Frequently asked questions
How do I print a full year calendar?
Open a year landing page (or set the date range to Jan 1–Dec 31), keep Month view selected, and use Auto / 1 month per page or adjust rows as you like. Download the PDF and print single- or double-sided for your binder.
How do I print a single month?
Open the month page you need, or set the date range to that month on the homepage. Month view with square or Fill Page cell height produces a clean printable monthly calendar PDF for fridge, binder, or desk use.
How do I print my calendar?
Click Print to open the PDF and trigger your browser print dialog, or Download to save the file and print later. You can also press Cmd+P (Mac) or Ctrl+P (Windows). BlankCal works with Letter, A4, and other common paper sizes.
Can I choose any date range?
Yes. Pick any start and end date, or use quick ranges like this month, next month, this week, or today. Year and month landing pages preload the matching range so you can print immediately or keep customizing.
What are the different calendar types?
Month: traditional grid with weeks as rows and days as columns. Week: one or more weeks per page with larger day boxes. Day: full-width boxes for detailed daily planning, including optional hourly schedules.
Is BlankCal free to use?
Yes. Create, preview, download, and print unlimited blank calendars with no account required. An optional small watermark can be turned off in the options panel.
What do the cell styles do?
Blank: empty cells for free-form writing. Lines: horizontal ruled lines. Grid: small squares for notes or sketches. Dots: dot grid, popular for bullet journaling. Hours: time slots for schedules. Pattern sizes range from small through XXL.
What are Presets?
Presets are quick-start templates for common setups — current or next month, today/tomorrow day planners, or year habit trackers. Use Reset to restore all settings to their defaults.
What is the Writing Area?
The Writing Area adds extra space for notes alongside your calendar. Position it left or right (landscape) or top/bottom (portrait). Adjust the split from 30% to 60%, and choose any pattern fill.
What does Binding Edge do?
Adds extra margin on one side (left, right, or top) so hole punches, staples, or spiral binding don’t eat into your content. Pair it with Print Mode to control how the margin behaves across duplex-printed pages.
What are the Print Modes?
Single-sided: every page has the binding margin on the same side — hole-punch the stack. Single-sided (notebook spread): binding alternates so each item opens as a spread when bound. Double-sided (book): duplex printing with holes aligned on one physical edge. Double-sided (notebook spread): adds a blank leading page so content lands on proper facing-page spreads.
What is Two-Page Spread?
Splits each month, week, or day across two facing pages for roughly double the writing space. Month and week views split days 4/3. Day view in rows splits each day’s content horizontally (and slices the hours range when using time slots); columns with multiple days distributes days across the two pages.
How do I add a page title?
Enter text in the Title field to add a title at the top of each page. Choose Small (fits in the margin), Medium, or Large. Long titles automatically scale down to fit.
What are the Advanced display options?
Show or hide dates, out-of-range dates, day-of-week headers, month sidebar, month labels, and boundary lines. You can also set day-of-week style to Short (S), Medium (Sun), or Long (Sunday).
Which paper sizes are supported?
Letter, A4, A5, half-letter, and smaller card sizes are built in. You can also set a custom size, adjust margins, and add a binding edge for hole punches or staples.
